An All-In Plan for Creative Community Transformation
Here is how.
Pillsbury Creative Commons (PCC) is the new name for Pillsbury House + Theatre. Our expanded arts and economic development hub will fuel a more vibrant future for South Minneapolis, channeling the power of artists to transform the community with and for local residents. If you want to help uplift countless lives and the future of our city and region, here is your opportunity.
WORKFORCE TRAINING + ARTIST RESIDENCE + RADIO STATION + VILLAGE COMMONS
A shared home for creativity, opportunity and belonging
Pillsbury House + Theatre has sown the seeds of a connected and thriving community for over 30 years. Now in our next phase, PCC is addressing the deep disparities in employment and resources in our arts and media industry, a field that today is 67% white males over 50. Our new campus will support local BIPOC young people in entering high-paying, high-demand career fields where they are currently underrepresented due to a range of systemic barriers.
New Scene Shop
Part of our Arts/Media Professions Campus, this scenic workshop will serve 150 trainees and will transform our capacity to produce world-class theatre and create new career pathways.
KRSM Radio Station
An anchor of our community narrative work, this new two-story facility will include multiple broadcast and recording studios with training and education facilities that will prepare 30 local young people for high-paying media careers each year.
Artist Studio/Residences
Flexible residence space will enable two multi-disciplinary artists to develop community-engaged art projects with and for the neighborhood and host world class artists in our community.
Village Commons
Accessible gathering space for hundreds of people for community celebrations, organizing, connecting to local small businesses, and creating and supporting art.
