Technical Arts Training @ Pillsbury (TAT) is a fully paid workforce development program that provides community members with a pathway into careers in technical theater and related trades. Through hands-on training in areas such as carpentry, scenic painting, welding, sound, lighting, and projections, participants gain practical skills that lead to high-demand employment opportunities throughout the Twin Cities arts community and beyond.
Phase 1
Introductory exposure to six technical arts:
Carpentry
Scenic Painting
Welding
Theatrical Lighting
Sound
Projections
Phase 2
One-on-one apprenticeships at performance venues across the Twin Cities. An opportunity to work with professionals on live productions in your area of interest.
Phase 3
Support in finding your first job placement in your new career. We will work with our partners to find a quality fit as you enter the workforce and will offer continued mentorship and resources to help you find your footing.
Career Readiness Training
Throughout our phases you will receive regular career readiness training in resumé writing, interview preparation, financial management, leadership, collaboration, and more.
